Volunteering

The Board of Education acknowledges the vital support volunteers offer to district schools by contributing their time, expertise, and energy as needed.

The Board values the significant contributions of volunteers and is committed to ensuring a safe, secure, and equitable school environment that respects all individuals. The district, through its employees, will retain control and responsibility for school programs and school-sponsored activities.

To volunteer in the school district please follow these steps:

  1. Complete a Volunteer Criminal Record Check.
  2. Read the school Code of Conduct, as it also applies to volunteers.
  3. Read and sign the Volunteer Code of Conduct, then submit it to the school or program administrator where you wish to volunteer.
  4. If you will be transporting students or staff, submit a Driver's Abstract.

VOLUNTEER CRIMINAL RECORD CHECKS (CRC)

We are enrolled with the Criminal Records Review Program (CRRP) Applicant Based Online Service. Volunteers can now complete their own criminal record request and the results will be forwarded to the school board office. They will be relevant for 5 years and there is no charge to the applicant.

To access the online request

To use the EIV (electronic identification verification):

  • Individuals must have been residing in Canada for two years or longer. 
  • Have your identity verified by using your BC Services Card - Province of British Columbia, If you don’t have a BC Services Card, an alternate option is available.
  • Must have a current Canadian address. (Please do not enter a foreign address through the on-line service) 
  • Minimum Canadian credit history of at least six months.

DRIVER'S ABSTRACT (completed annually)

  • Obtain you Driving Record from ICBC.
  • Submit to the school or program administrator.
