SEEC

Description of Program:

The Saturna Ecological Education Center (SEEC) is an experiential place-based year of ecological learning  on beautiful Saturna Island, British Columbia. Within the Gulf Islands School District (SD64),  SEEC follows the BC curriculum and students earn full credits for provincially approved courses in Grades 10 and 11.

At SEEC, students immerse themselves in the natural world to learn, understand, and act in ways which are environmentally sustainable while being challenged academically. Our explorations integrate science, social studies, physical education, and language arts to create a unique learning adventure that promotes critical thinking, social responsibility,  and personal growth.

SEEC is an overnight based program where high school students stay three nights a week.  The site has  three cabins, a cookhouse, and separate washrooms for boys and girls.

Applying to SEEC is as easy as 1,2,3.

  1. Expression of Interest Form
  2. Student Application Form
  3. Site Visit and Two References

Student Application

We would like to play a game of 10 questions to get to know you a little better.  Applications with details and heart/honesty work the best.  Parents are not allowed to answer this survey.  https://goo.gl/forms/MFRlF3LGgMDtcweA3

School Site Visit and Two References

You will need two written letters of reference, one of them must be from a teacher.

You and your parents are welcome to come to beautiful Saturna Island to visit our school site, with our beautiful off-grid cabins, and our common room.
