Administrative Announcement 2024-07-08

Dear Education Community of the Gulf Islands School District,

On behalf of School District No. 64 (Gulf Islands) and the Board of Education, we are pleased to share some important administrative announcements that will shape the future of our district. These changes, effective August 1, 2024, reflect our commitment to providing the best educational experience for our students.

  • We welcome Ms. Jackie Borosa to School District No. 64, who will be appointed to the continuing position of Vice Principal of Saturna Island School. Ms. Borosa has a depth of experience and believes positive education outcomes are built on respect, relationships, and reciprocity.
  • We thank Ms. Katharine Byers for her flexibility. Ms. Byers will remain as Vice Principal of Salt Spring Elementary in lieu of unexpected leaves.
  • Ms. Cheryl Ruff will be appointed to the position of District Coordinator of Indigenous Language and Culture. Ms. Ruff has been supporting Indigenous students in School District No. 64 since 2017, most recently as the Racial Equity and Anti-Racism Coordinator.

We extend our best wishes to everyone transitioning into their new roles.

Sincerely,

Jill Jensen
Superintendent
