Traditionally, each June, SIMS hosts a track and field day. Our PAC feeds us hot dogs at lunch. We run, jump and throw. The Lavender class (who named themselves The Quaranteens) recently had virtual track and field day.
The assignment was to design three events – running, jumping and throwing – then participate in them. Students checked in on each other over the day to see how the events were going and whether they were able to have a hot dog for lunch.
One innovative young man “used the code generator to spawn” a hundred metre dash through a tunnel, complete with finish line fireworks, in Minecraft Education. All in all a fun day and a good connection to a normal June.
