Connecting Generations Program

The purpose of the Connecting Generations Program is to build bridges between the school and the community by bringing together youth with adults, including seniors, for face-to-face conversations about a shared interest, skill, or life experience. LivingLinks is the database of adults and youth who are enthusiastic about meeting people whose paths they might not ordinarily cross.


Early Learning Programs

SD 64 provides Early Learning programs on all Gulf Islands. Early Learning for Families (ELF) Strong Start BC programs run on Salt Spring at Salt Spring Elementary and Fulford Elementary schools and on Galiano, Mayne, Pender and Saturna. These are free, drop in programs for children, 0-5 yr. old with a parent or caregiver, under the direction of an Early Childhood Educator. Parent Child Mother Goose programs are held at Fernwood Elementary and Mayne School.


French Programs

Outer Islands’ Middle Years Program (OIMY)

The Outer Islands’ Middle Years Program (OIMY) is a cohort comprised of Pender, Mayne, Galiano, Phoenix, and Saturna middle years students. Our program focuses on an on-going commitment to each other, educators planning together to meet students needs, and honouring a sense of place and the uniqueness of each island setting.

The Saturna Ecological Education Centre (SEEC) is an experiential, place-based ecological learning centre on beautiful Saturna Island, British Columbia.
