Gulf Islands Secondary students who participate in the Trades Awareness Skills and Knowledge program (T.A.S.K.) in grade 10, 11 or 12 launch into a career in the skilled trades.
Students first spend a semester of hands-on learning, building tiny homes, attending Camosun College trades shops, and working in a trade area. Students focus on achieving high marks in their senior mathematics and applied skills and drafting classes, and continue by exploring trades and technology through Work Experience. Students who participate in TASK in grade 10 or 11 develop lifelong skills and get ahead on course credits. The program builds pathways to post secondary programs in trades, engineering, technology and design.
