Notice of Motion: Phoenix Elementary School Closure

To all SD64 School Learning Communities, SD64 partner representatives, and members of the public:

At its Regular Public Meeting held on September 13, 2023, the Board of Education for School District 64 (Gulf Islands) passed a motion to begin a 60-day consultation process for the closure of Phoenix Elementary School as per Board Policy and Procedure 635 and in accordance with the School Act.  The Board also presented a Notice of Motion to consider three readings and approval for the School Closure Bylaw for Phoenix Elementary School on November 13, 2023 at a special public meeting of the board. The special public meeting will be held at the School Board Office at 9:00 am. 

Public Consultation for School Closure

The Notice of Motion commences a 60-day consultation process during which time the staff and the public will have an opportunity to respond. A public meeting to consider the closure will be held at Phoenix Elementary School at 6:30 pm, on October 16, 2023. An agenda for the evening will be posted here in advance of the meeting.
