To the Graduating Class of 2020,
I am writing this letter with great respect and appreciation for your accomplishments and resilience during this unanticipated graduation experience in 2020. I would like to join your teachers, school administration, families, and friends in congratulating you on a job well done and to wish you all the very best in your future endeavours. Our communities are strong and we know that you will be inspiring ambassadors for the Gulf Islands as you lead the way towards next steps in work, service, post-secondary, travel, and training in a wide range of pursuits.
I had the opportunity this morning to view the set up in the GISS gymnasium and, as always, it is impressive. As you walk the stage over the next few days you will likely reflect upon the many who have supported you through the years and especially during these last few challenging months. This is your time to shine and embrace a truly unique story of graduation shared with others your age across the globe.
Be proud of your accomplishments and know that all of us in School District 64 (Gulf Islands) wish you every success in the years to come.
Congratulations to the Class of 2020!
With admiration and gratitude,
Dr. Scott Benwell
