To The Gulf Islands Educational Community:
Yes, it is that exciting time of year again! The new school year begins on Tuesday, September 8th. It is with appreciation that I extend an official “Welcome” to all of you as we start the 2015-2016 school year! I am very enthused about the upcoming year and all of the possibilities that working together—students, staff, parents and community— will provide.
I am very excited about increasing opportunities to work collaboratively as we strive to personalize and create deep learning opportunities for every student in School District 64. I look forward to working in partnership with you to support the pursuit of learning for all students with passion and persistence. Continuing to strengthen partnerships and build relationships with family and community is vital to our students having the best possible opportunities for learning.
I am thankful to everyone who has worked diligently to prepare us for the school year. So much goes on behind the scenes—including enhancing & maintaining our facilities & grounds, improving access to technology, preparing the bus fleet, keeping our accounting & payroll in order, registering our new and returning students, taking courses to enrich educational opportunities for our students—and so much more!
We are here to serve our students and work as a “Community of Learners” during the 2015-2016 school year. I anticipate a rewarding year of deep learning for all.
Lisa Halstead, Superintendent
