Fernwood Elementary visits the Farmers’ Institute to learn about Salt Spring’s pioneer and settler history.

All seven classes from Fernwood Elementary were graciously hosted by the Farmers’ Institute on Thursday, June 9th. Students toured the summer kitchen, museum, watched a video about Salt Spring’s early settlers, saw a refurbished saw mill in action, learned about the processing of sheep’s wool and were treated to a blacksmith demonstration. Many thanks to the kind volunteers and folk of the Farmers’ Institute!
